Cease-fire

A cease-fire is the stop or the suspension of hostilities in period of Guerre. It is about a bilateral agreement, generally negotiated and signed by representatives of at least two parts in Conflit. It is sometimes about a unilateral decision proclaimed by one of the protagonists, in particular when the Négociation S can only with difficulty be held, or in waiting of those.

Some definitions

A cease-fire comprises sometimes elements which condition its application: disarmament of a group, rehabilitation, Amnesty, acceptance of claims, recognition of Territory S…

It applies to a given period and a given area, for groups of combatants and sometimes of the means of combat given. It can apply to any group of individuals, regular Armée, Milice or other, and for any conflict situation. However, it can be carried out only if the two parts in conflict are well individualized and that their representatives have authority on the Belligérant S. That excludes in fact certain terrorist mobilities current too much polymorphic so that single negotiations can be considered.

A cease-fire does not mean therefore the Paix, but it often allows the return temporary to the safety and hard of this fact sometimes much longer than what is envisaged initially. The belligerents are thus officially in conflict as long as a Peace treaty was not signed. The situation thus rather cold than is solved and the step to be crossed for a peace treaty can be complex.
