Geography and climate
Ceará belongs entire to the field of the " Caatinga ", semi-arid medium of Brazilian Nordeste characterized by a short wet season, limited to 3 or 4 months per annum, like by a large biodiversity. The strong seasonal variation of the climate makes that there exists a fauna and a flora adapted to many conditions of the medium. The prevalent climate is semi-arid, very hot and dry. During nearly 9 months per annum there is no precipitation and the average temperature reaches 30 degrees in certain areas of Sertão. During the months of rains (generally from February to May) the temperature goes down somewhat towards the 25 degrees from average. The littoral areas as well as the heights profit on the other hand from a less unhealthy climate with temperature and moisture more favorable to the vegetation. The averages of the littoral go from 23 to 28 degrees. In the heights, they go from 20 to 25 degrees. In Fortaleza on the coast the absolute minimum is of 19°, the absolute maximum being of 32°.
Tourism
The state of Ceará is rich in tourist attractions but is especially famous for these superb beaches still relatively saved by tourism of mass. The site of Jericoacoara, in the West of Fortaleza or the beach of Canoa Quebrada in the East, is as for him famous for its fresh water lakes in the middle of dunes near the sea. In addition a chain of authentic villages of fishermen, such as Prainha, Iguape and especially Caponga, skirts the superb wild beaches to the East of Fortaleza.
