Cay operation

Opération Cay (original title Falling Free ) is a novel of Science-fiction of the American writer Lois McMaster Bujold, published in 1987. It belongs to the universe of the Saga Vorkosigan of which it constitutes the first following shutter the chronological order of the universe of the '' Saga Vorkosigan ''.

Synopsis

Lately affected on an orbit station, engineer Leo Graf discovers there that the company which employs it created by genetic engineering a new race completely adapted to weightlessness: quaddies. Equipped with a particularly resistant constitution, a metabolism allowing them to compensate for the osseous embrittlement caused with human by the life in weightlessness, their feature the most outstanding remainder the presence of one second pair of arm in the place of the legs. Leo is charged to teach with these particular pupils his profession, in order to make of them perfect employees with the service of his company. But on the remote colony Beta, a new invention calls into question the existence even of the quaddies: with the appearance of artificial gravity, workmen adapted to weightlessness cease being profitable. The future of the quaddies is compromised if they remain with the service of the company which created them… and which legally has them. Leo Graf, realizing of the danger, the assistance to organize their escape.
