Cave of Buontalenti

The Grotte of Buontalenti ( Grotta del Buontalenti ) is located at the Palais Pitti close to the Jardin of Boboli, with Florence, in Toscane, area of the Italy.

History

It was financed by the large-duke of Tuscany François I {{er}} of Médicis, initiated by Giorgio Vasari, started with Niccolò Tribolo before 1550, then continued by Bartolomeo Ammanati in 1570, and completed between 1583 and 1593 by the architect of the court of Tuscany, Bernardo Buontalenti.

The artificial cave is a masterpiece of architecture and culture mannerist and represents a very singular mixture between architecture, painting and sculpture.
