Cavallino-Treporti

Geography

The territory of the commune consists of a peninsula or cord Littoral which separates the Lagune from Venice of the Adriatic Sea. The river Sile, which impressed the old course of the Piave, separates it in the North-East from the communal territory from Jesolo.

The peninsula is crossed over all its length by the Pordelio channel which, towards the west, is divided into two other channels (Portosecco and Saccagnana); all the three are navigable. To the east, the Pordelio channel is connected to the river Sile by the Casson channel; whose its junction in the river is controlled by an artificial stopping.

Geophysics

The formation of the littoral codon is with the alluvia brought, during the millenia, by the rivers Piave and Sile since the Dolomites and the reaction of the tides. The sands brought of these mountains to the multicoloured rocks (red, white and gilded) have to create splendid a 15 km long beach, mouth of Sile until Punta Sabionni.

One reaches it by the road while passing by Jesolo, and in boat from Venice (to 35 mn) or of the islands close to Murano, Burano and Torcello, or of the sea, by the ports of Punta Sabionni and Treporti

Tourist attractions
