Cathy Berberian

Cathy Berberian (born the July 4th 1925 with Attleboro, Massachusetts - died the March 6th 1983 with Rome) is a Cantatrice étatsunienne of Armenian origin.

It combines a repertory very varied energy of Monteverdi to the most contemporary compositions, thanks to its very wide and flexible voice, with a direction of the setting in eccentric scene, occurring sometimes with a pink wig and long forgeries lashes. She, moreover, interpreted in 1966 a cycle of twelve songs of the Beatles on arrangements baroques so, has she says, “to make like the songs of Beatles to the parents”.

She created passion according to Sade of Sylvano Bussotti. She was married with the type-setter Luciano Berio of 1950 to 1964.
