Catholic Committee against the hunger and for the development
The catholic committee against the hunger and for the development is a standard association law 1901 which received for mandate of the Conférence of the bishops of France to mobilize the solidarity of the Christians, in particular at the time of the period of Lent to the profit of the achievement of two missions:
- in France, to sensitize the public opinion with the situation of the poor countries;
- to support projects of Human development in the Developing country of the South and the East.
Support for the development projects
Breaking with the practices of pure assistance, the relation of solidarity implemented by the CCFD rests on the concept of partnership . The CCFD brings its support for conceived initiatives of development and implementations by the interested parties themselves, working within the framework of associations partners, and this whatever the origin, the culture or the religion of the recipients.
Education with the development
One of the missions of the CCFD is to sensitize the public opinion with the problems of the Developing country. For example by opinion campaigns (cancellation of the debt of the poor country, improvement of the Government Aid to the development, subsidized exports of chicken meat offals in Africa, request for concrete actions to achieve the Goals of the Millenium for the Development,…), but also by the promotion of the Equitable trade, by animations in particular at the time of the Lent.
