Professional path

Political career

It was member of the Socialist party unified of Michel Rocard, before joining the Socialist party François Mitterrand, member of the Siècle, one of the most influential circles.

Parliamentary career

  • In June 1997: elected appointed 11 {{E}} district of Yvelines, (appointed temporary: Guy Malandain, mayor of Trap doors).

- June 1997 with April 2000, president of the Commission of the constitutional laws, the legislation and the general administration of the Republic. Under its presidency, the bill on the PACS is adopted.
- October 1997 with April 2000, member, vice-president (October 1997) then president (May 1999) of the Parliamentary office of evaluation of the legislation.
- May 1999 with April 2000, Member of the Commission of investigation into the operation of the security forces in Corsica.
- February 2000 with March 2000, Member of the Commission of investigation into the situation in the French prisons.
  • on September 26th, 2004: elected sénatrice of Yvelines, Member of the Commission of the foreign affairs, defense and the armed forces. It is also member of the parliamentary delegation for the European Union, and Vice-president of the Socialiste group.

- In October 2000, it presents a bill to control the practice of the new shapes of subscription to the cinema.
- In January 2001, it presents a bill of tax on products and supports numerical under the terms of the protection of the royalties.
- In March 2002, after its criticisms against Silvio Berlusconi, the inauguration of the Living room of the Book of Paris is marked by incidents. In reaction, it is the object of virulent criticisms on behalf of Vittorio Sgarbi, historian of art and at the time under-secretary with the Cultural Goods of the Berlusconi government.
