Professional path
- With the direction of Arts and the Letters, under Andre Malraux, it deals with the Houses of the Culture.
- 1973-1977: managing director of the House of the Culture of Grenoble.
- 1977-1978: mission leader with the National office of artistic diffusion.
- 1978-1982: general administrator of the intercontemporain Unit of Pierre Boulez.
- 1982-1986: administrative Co-director of the Theater of the Almond trees with Nanterre with Patrice Chéreau.
- 1986-1989: named by François Mitterrand with the National Commission of the communication and freedoms (CNCL, ancestor of the SCUMS).
- 1993-1997: adviser of Andre Rousselet in Canal+ and president de Canal Horizons (group General of water, future Vivendi)
Political career
It was member of the Socialist party unified of Michel Rocard, before joining the Socialist party François Mitterrand, member of the Siècle, one of the most influential circles.
Parliamentary career

In June 1997: elected appointed 11 {{E}} district of Yvelines, (appointed temporary: Guy Malandain, mayor of Trap doors).

on September 26th, 2004: elected sénatrice of Yvelines, Member of the Commission of the foreign affairs, defense and the armed forces. It is also member of the parliamentary delegation for the European Union, and Vice-president of the Socialiste group.

- Minister deputy in charge of the Communication, near the Minister for the Culture and Transport of the Government Michel Rocard (1) (from May 12th to June 28th, 1988)

- Minister delegated to the Francophonie, near the Foreign Minister of the Government Edith Cresson (from May 16th, 1991 to April 4th, 1992)
- Secretary of State to the Francophonie and the foreign Cultural relations, near the Foreign Minister of the Government Pierre Bérégovoy (from April 4th, 1992 to March 30th, 1993)
