Initially recruited to present the emissions of the new domestic network 819 lines of rtf in 1949, (Jacqueline Joubert continuing of officer mainly on the Parisian transmitter in 441 lines), Catherine Langeais was probably the most popular announcer of French television, since the end of the Années 1950 until the end of the Années 1970. It was it which accommodated on line the televiewers of BBC during the first international emission of television on line, the Franco-British Week of July 1952 carried out thanks to the very new “converter of standard” (which will allow, one year later, the international diffusion of the Crowning of Elisabeth II, then the installation of the Eurovision).Simultaneously with the advertisement of the programs, Catherine Langeais took part in various emissions of entertainment in the years 1950-1960, such as 36 candles or the Sequence of the spectator (renamed later the Sequence of the televiewer ), as well as the culinary emission Art and magic of the kitchen at the side of the chief Raymond Oliver.
A long illness, which it hid a long time returned the very difficult task to him, but prevented it from working only in the year 1955, sick, it continued its trade, its interventions (has you to judge, the sequence of the televiewer and some emissions for children). It was not it which, on Sunday, January 5 1975, enclosed with much emotion the emissions of the first chain ORTF, replaced the following day by the public new business TF1 (French Television 1) on which it did not ensure any more but the comments, in voice-over , of the Séquence of the televiewer , while it followed her husband Pierre Sabbagh on the " Second channel " he was the Director of the programs.
It was the wife of the producer and realizer of television Pierre Sabbagh, creator in 1949 of the first daily tv news in the world.
