Catherine Destivelle

Catherine Destivelle , born the July 24th 1960 with Oran, is a French Alpiniste.

Her parents having left the Algeria during its first years, it shares its life between the Paris region and Audresselles where it spends its holidays. It is by attending the forest of Fontainebleau that she discovers the Escalade. At fifteen years, it dominated the most difficult rocks of them, and as from seventeen years, it is measured in the Alps without the knowledge of its family. Between twenty and twenty-five years, she forsakes her passion to become Kinésithérapeute.

Climbing

It was regarded as best the climbing world one between 1985 and 1988.
In 1986 it carries out the female first 8A with a way in 8a+.

Mountain

1 LMBO recluses female:

in 1990, rise of the pillar Bonatti with the Thick in 4 hours;
in June 1991, opening of a news western face of the Thick in 11 days;
the March 10th 1992, rise of the northern face of the Eiger in 17 hours;
beginning 1993, Walker spur with the Large Jorasses in 3 days;
winter 1994, Bonatti way opposite north the Cervin.

Forwardings:

in 1990, it climbs into free the tower of Trango to the Pakistan;
taken again Loretan/Troillet route with the Shishapangma with the Tibet with Erik Decamp;
opening in the solid mass of Elsworth in the Antarctic of a 1700 height m virgin face with Erik Decamp;
in 1995, western southern face of Shishapangma.
