Cathedral of York

The cathedral of York (also called in English York Minster ) is located in the town of York in the north of the England. It is the largest Gothic building of Europe of North, the seat of the archbishop of York, second in the hierarchy of the church Anglican, and the cathedral of the Diocèse of York. It is controlled by a senior and a chapter. Its formal name is: “cathedral and metropolitan church of Saint-Pierre to York”.

The Nave, very broad, as well as the chapter house are of style curvilinéaire ( decorated ), the perpendicular chorus of style ( perpendicular ) and the transepts north and south of primitive style Gothic ( Early English ). The Western stained glass, going back to 1338, is in the nave, while the large Eastern stained glass (finished in 1408) dominates the vault of the Virgin ( Lady Chapel ): it is the largest medieval stained glass in the world. In the northern Transept the stained glass of the Five Sisters is, of which each ogival window measurement 16 meters height. The southern transept contains celebrates it Rosace.
