Cathedral of Saint-Denis of the Meeting

The cathedral Saint-Saver of Saint-Denis is a French Cathédrale located in the downtown area of the chief town of the Réunion, in other words Saint-Denis. Its construction began in November 1829 and was completed in 1832.

History

The building was built according to the plans of engineer Paradis in the place of a church which had preceded it at the 18th century. It takes its final form only in 1863 with the construction of the Western Porche in Prostyle. Meanwhile, it is set up in Cathédrale in 1850 and is devoted in 1860.

It is near this building which Antoine Roussin painted that the politician Alexis of Villeneuve was made kill by ball right in the middle of a crowd piled up to hear it the May 25th 1946.
