Cathedral Saint-Jacob de Šibenik

The cathedral Saint-Jacob ( Katedrala Sveti Jakova ) of Šibenik (Croatia) was put in building site starting from 1431 and was completed in 1536. Whereas work began with various Venetian Masters during ten years, its construction was then entrusted to native Dalmatinac of Zadar. This one modified the original plan and adopted a transition style between Gothic and rebirth. With died of Dalmatinac, work was completed by Nikola Firentinac (Nicolas the Florentin), in particular the roof in dome and of the elements of the frontage in a pure style rebirth.

The materials used for the construction of this cathedral come exclusively from Croatian islands: islands of Brač, Korčula, Rab and Krk.

Since 2000, the cathedral is registered by UNESCO on the list of the world heritage of humanity.
