Cathedral Notre-Dame de Senlis
See also: Notre-Dame
Built starting from 1150 on the site of older sanctuaries, Notre-Dame de Senlis is devoted on June 16th 1191.
Of rather modest size (18m), it is one of the first monuments Gothic S.
It is strongly modified in XIIIe century: one prolongs the bell-tower of the south of a arrow on two floors and one stops the interior prospect by boring a Transept which leaves the Nef shorter than the Chœur.
In 1504, a fire, caused by the lightning, destroyed the Frame and involves the collapse of the Voûte S, except for that of the 1e Travée. One rebuilds the high parts of the cathedral by raising them of 6 meters, one doubles the sides of the nave and one avoids the side walls of a very rich decoration blazing.
The French revolution makes disappear furniture and destroys the heads of statue-columns of the Western gate, replaced in the middle of the XIXe century.
In 1986, one finishes the restoration of the interior and in 1993 that of the arrow.
