Cathbad

In the Celtic Mythology Irish, Cathbad is the first Druide kingdom of Ulster, frightening for its prophecies, it is also a warrior whose name means “Killer with the combat”. It has as a wife the queen Ness, their children are the king Conchobar Mac Nessa and a girl Findchoem (wife of Amorgen). Cathbad is also the father of the druids Genann Gruadhsolus and Imrinn and the grandfather of the hero Cúchulainn of which he is also the tutor. When Setanta reaches the five years age, it renames it Cúchulainn.

Whereas they were in war (Cathbad had assassinated the twelve tutors of Born), it surprises it naked bathing and benefits from it to steal its clothing and its weapons. She will have the safe life if she accepts three conditions: peace, friendship and the marriage. The marriage will be provisional.

Cathbad prophesied that the very beautiful Deirdre would cause the destruction of Ulster, and that its Cúchulainn grandson would have a glorious existence, but short.

In the account Táin Bó Cúailnge (Raid of the cows of Cooley), it causes the death of the emissary Sualtam who spoke without permission, because according to a Geis , “No one does not speak before the king, but the king does not speak before his druid”.
