Catex

Catex (abbreviation of CA corn T ransportor of plosif EX ) is a Câble to which one attaches Explosif S in order to start Avalanche S volunteers in mountain.

Operation

The perimeter of Catex constitutes a layout of cable, supported by pylons equipped with pulleys.

Catex flies over the starting zones of the dangerous avalanches for the population (ski slopes, mountain roads, ways of railroad, etc). The cable put in rotation by a driving station makes it possible to convey in a way automated (or at sight) one or more loads above the surface of snow to destabilize.

The transported explosive is started voluntarily from the station of departure and causes a shock wave which destabilizes snow and causes the avalanche.

Catex makes it possible to convey as many explosive charges than it is necessary to the release of all the avalanches during the dangerous episodes.
