Caterpillar is an American industry group, manufacturing machines in the fields of construction, the mines and the forest. This manufacturer manufactures also engines diesel S as well as generators.
The mark is also known by its derivative products, in particular of the shoes, the bags, clothing as well as small-scale models.
History
In 1890, Benjamin Holt and Daniel Best try out various crawler-mounted tractors. They create two distinct companies. Holt produces its first tractor with vapor in 1904, and a model with gasoline in 1906. In 1915, the allied armies use a model of Tracteur to caterpillar of Holt: “Caterpillar” (English caterpillar).
The companies “The Holt manufacturing company” and C.L. Best Tractor Co. amalgamate in 1925 and become “Caterpillar Tractor Co”. The first Diesel engine Caterpillar leaves the factories of East Peoria (Illinois), in 1931. In France, the Caterpillar products are distributed by the company Bergerat Monnoyeur.
In 1963, Caterpillar and Mitsubishi Heavy Ltd Industries. Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd., renamed Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd found. The group became the number 2 Japanese of the manufacturers of machines for construction and the careers. Following the world recession, Caterpillar loses 1 million US dollars per day of 1981 with 1983. The company must then proceed to massive dismissals.
In 1986, The Caterpillar Tractor Co. becomes Caterpillar Inc. In 1997, the company acquires the British company Perkins Engine and German MaK Motoren, and becomes thus the first global manufacturer of diesel engines.

2000: Caterpillar celebrates its 75e birthday.

2003: Caterpillar becomes the first motor mechanic to propose a complete range of clean diesel engines, models 2004, completely in conformity and certified by the EPA (American environmental protection arranges). Technology ACERT Caterpillar of reduction of the polluting emissions is intended to respect the standards EPA without to sacrifice the performances, reliability and the energetic efficiency.
