Geography

History

There was a Cloître religious in Catenoy. Now, this building which one can observe while entering Catenoy by the main road (coming from Clermont) is used to store various communal objects. The church it, has as patron saint St Thomas More. It underwent some acts of vandalism these last years (what was worth some broken stained glasses, and of the flight of audio material). The mass of Christmas who is celebrated there each December 24th towards 20:00 is well put in scene: A child of the parish incarnates Jesus, while a girl, overlapping a pony, incarnates Marie. They enter the church, follow-up of the faithful ones, and a candle and distributed has each child (and with any person by wishing one). The church is on the decorated occasion: a large crib on the left side, and an enclosure with sheep (and straw what requires a good job of cleaning the days according to) is located on the line. A cemetery in the tomb are in rather bad condition is located around this church. The town hall engaged of work to recently restore them in 2007. There is also a rather large military cemetery at the exit of Catenoy towards Compiegne. Concerning the war memorial, located in the street of Liancourt, each November 11th takes place a commemoration in front of this one, as well as on May 8th (it is often this same day that the hill climb of Catenoy takes place).
