Catchment area of the Meuse

The catchment area or Bassin pouring of the Meuse is the territory in France, with the Grand-Duché of Luxembourg, in Belgium, Germany and with the Netherlands of which all the surface waters run out towards the the North Sea through the Meuse and its affluents.

It irrigates 9 million Europeans.

It extends on 36  000 square kilometers, of which (approximately):

The government of these five countries and the three Régions of Belgium signed in 1994 a International agreement on the Meuse . A International commission of the Meuse was institutée to implement the agreement.
