Catalog Squirted
The catalog Giclas is a Catalog of stars counting star S having a own Mouvement important. It was carried out in two parts by Henry Lee Giclas and its collaborators, Robert Burnham, Jr and NR. G. Thomas, in 1971 for the part of the northern hemisphere and in 1978 for the part of the southern hemisphere.
Characteristics
The two catalogs were carried out the Observatoire Lowell (Flagstaff, Arizona, the United States). The northern part of the catalog comprises: 8989 objects, that of the southern part: 2758, the difference being explained by the incomplete cover in variation.
The stars members of the Giclas catalog are indexed in the form G FFF-NNNA, FFF and NNN representing integers, a letter (A) being possibly coupled with the second. For example, G 140-024 indicates the star of Barnard.
