Catalog APM

The catalogs APM , for Automated Plate Measuring (that is to say “measurement automated to start from photographic plates”), is a Catalog of galaxies carried out in the current of the Années 1980. The catalog is based on the analysis of photographic plates carried out by two telescopes of Schmidt, the United Kingdom Schmidt Telescope (UKST) and the Samuel Oschin Schmidt Telescope Observatoire of the Mount Palomar. These stereotypes, sometimes relatively old (those of the Palomar Mount were carried out in 1958, for example) then were digitized using a specialized machine, called Automated Plate Measuring , based with the Institute off Astronomy of the Université of Cambridge.
