Castration
The castration ( Orchiectomie or orchidectomy ) is the ablation reproductive bodies of plants, animals or of human S. Most of the time that relates to just the ablation of the testicles, but it happens that relates to also the Pénis, the people thus operated are sometimes called Eunuques.
Plants
Castration is used in vegetable selection and production of seed, for the control of the reproduction. This so in particular making sure of a production of variety known as F1 hybrids. The castration of the male parts of the female lines make it possible to ensure the desired crossing.
Animals
Castration is practiced in the animal breeding to produce less aggressive males, to make it possible to eliminate from the reproduction of the subjects of insufficient qualities, or to produce a more tender meat and without odor sui generis of sexual origin. Let us quote in particular:- the Ox, Bull châtré;
- the Capon, Chicken (Cock) châtré.
- the Hongre, Horse (standard) châtré.
- the Sheep, ram châtré.
Castration can take place as a practitioner the surgical ablation of the testicles, by opening the purses using a lancet.
Another method is the use of the grip burdizzo which does not require an incision. The grip enclosing the purses compresses the blood-vessels and deprives the testicles of oxygen, which involves necroses to them.
Dans the case of the castration of calves, the expert blocks the possibility of ruer to the animal by wedging its back legs using a bundle of straw for example then being held behind place the grip and maintains it for the duration necessary to obtaining necroses testicles.
Human castration
In Western Europe, castration was sometimes practiced at children or teenagers to obtain Castrat S, i.e. men singing with an acute way, very formerly required for certain lyric spectacles or the song with the church (Catholicism formerly prohibited the women from singing in a church). The practice of castration with an aim of obtaining this type of voice having been prohibited by the pope Clement XIV at the end of the XVIIIe century, the castrati disappeared during the next century.
Castration was practiced in certain civilizations at teenagers or men to obtain Eunuque S. In the Persian Empire achéménide, in China or with the Vietnam, those could occupy of high administrative offices.
Castration is also practiced at the Femme S Transsexuel them, and of the Transgenre S, which want to lose the effects of the Testostérone. In the absence of this hormone which is not secreted any more following castration, the secondary sexual characters disappear. Thus, " castrés" see themselves decreasing their musculature, the loss of hairs other than the hair and a tendency to an acuter voice. It should be noted that castrated never become bald people and that in certain cases, there remains possible to have an erection and thus coitus; however it is impossible to fertilize. (see Eunuque)
Lastly, castration was proposed and sometimes applied for the social rehabilitation of the sexual delinquents, and more especially for the paedophiles. In this case, it is about castration " chimique" : one does not practice surgical ablation but the patient is subjected to a treatment which inhibits its sexual instincts.
Chemical castration
Chemical castration, consists in introducing drugs which will start a fall of the production of testosterone and thus will decrease the sexual instincts. This process is applied for the reintegration of the paedophiles: it allows a better social rehabilitation. Chemical castration is applied very little, except in Germany on the basis of voluntariate.
