Castling-Gageac

Castling-Gageac is a common French, located in the department of the the Dordogne and the area Aquitaine. The commune is classified among the most beautiful villages of France.

Geography

The commune is established in edge of the river the Dordogne with 8 kilometers in the south-west of Sarlat-la-Canéda.

History

With the the Middle Ages, Gageac Castling counted 1.500 hearts. At the time, the Dordogne made live fishing and gabariers of the port. From this period remains the church covered with roofing stones. Not far draws up itself, flanked of a tower round, the Manoir of the Tarde family, friendly of Galileo. During the War One hundred Year old, Gageac Castling accommodated the bishop S of Sarlat. Their residence, at the end of the village, was preserved. Dominating the houses, the vestiges of the Château still defy time.
