Castle of Vizille
The castle of Vizille is larger and prestigious castle of the Dauphiné.
History
It was arranged at the beginning of the 17th century by François de Bonne (1543-1626), duke of Lesdiguières, governor of the province delphinale, comrade in arms of Henri IV and last Connétable of France. At the end of the XVIIIe century, one undertaking middle-class area, Claude Perier, bought the castle forsaken with the descendants of Lesdiguières and installed a manufacture of cloth printing. July 21st 1788, it agreed to receive in the room of the play of palm of the old aristocratic castle the assembly of the three orders of the province, prohibited of meeting to Grenoble, whose deliberations opened crucial and new chapter of the French history. Property until in 1895 of the influential Perier family known for her political commitment within the liberal middle-class, the field passed then between several hands deprived before being acquired by the State in 1924, in accordance with a national wish. Five Presidents of the Republic remained there of 1925 with 1960, in particular Albert Lebrun and Rene Coty which spent the summer of 1954 there to 1958. The field, little used ultimately, was yielded to the General advice of Isere in 1973. In 1983, pre-empting the celebration of the bicentenary of the French revolution, the Musée of the French revolution of Vizille took seat in the various rooms of the castle.
