Castle of Vabre

The castle of Vabre is with 5km in the north of Rodez on the commune of Onet-the-Castle in Aveyron (France) on the road of Marcillac.

Description

The building, of type Manoir, built at the beginning of is composed of a vast main building, between two houses overflowing slightly. The whole of the Southerner type is capped with one roof in Mansard, enlightened by large attic windows.

The building is separated from the park by a armoiriée grid which dates only from second half of. The vast park is closed on a side by grids, while a high wall, flanked with the south-western angle on turn-pigeon, closed other sides.

Use

After a first project of destruction which failed, the town of Rodez installs there a park of the sports with swimming pool opposite the castle.

History

The construction of this castle will be allotted to the family of Balsa then to the family of Guirbaldi.

To the beginning of, the castle would have belonged to the family of Balsa. In 1704, it will belong to the family Guirbaldi, then about the middle of, it will be alienated with the family Tustet.

At the beginning of, the De Coignac acquired of it, until Mme Veuve De Coignac sold it to Mr. Campergue, stockbroker which resold it in Mme Séguret Saincric. She made restore the castle and enclosed the park with a gate and a grid out of wrought iron.

In 1910, Mme Séguret Saincric bequeathed the property to the town of Rodez which in is always owner at present. In order to respect its last wills, the town of Rodez transformed the castle into orphanage; in 1959, one counted nothing any more but one boarder.

Today, the castle lodges the training center of the Rodez Aveyron Football.
