Castle of Street

The Freibourgese small town of Street, located at the edge of Broye, is dominated by an old castle built over a rock and escarpé edge from where one enjoys a wide sight on the Alps, Léman and the Jura.

Extremely old since it is already quoted in 1155, it fell on suzerainté from the count de Genevois, which unfortunately was a rival of the Count de Savoie; from where a long fight between them in the north and the south of the lake Léman, during which, between 1235 and 1237, the castle of Street was destroyed. Hardly rebuilt, it was besieged again, in 1421, by the bishop of Lausanne this time.
