Castle of Roofing stone

In Périgord with Thonac, 5 km of Montignac-Lascaux in direction of Eyzies (to 18 km), the castle of Roofing stone dominates the Valley of the Vézère. Classified, worth visiting.

Locked up in walls bordered of deep ditches, the medieval fortress built in cliff on the river made place in 1576 with a castle of pleasure, Renaissance style and according to the wish of Jean de Losse.

The delicate sculpture of the frontages and the accuracy of proportion of volumes form an ECRIN for the beautiful decoration and the remarkable furniture of time XVI and XVIIè which decorate the apartments. On the ramparts the daily newspaper of the time is also evoked in the tower of the spur (XIVè century) with the drying oven and the room of rest. The walk in the rooms of greenery of the Garden in terrace decorated with scented plants leads to a superb sight on the river.
