The castle of current Roissac , was built with Roissac, commune of Angeac-Champagne, close to Cognac in 1770.
history
On this site existed a Gallo-Roman Villa then a Logis seigneurial of the Moyen-âge.In 1239 Hugues de Lusignan, count d' Angoulême yields the grounds of Roissac to Iter II of Barbezieux (they make exchanges of grounds) and Geoffroy Ier of Rochefoucauld receives them in heritage of Agnes of Barbezieux. They pass then by marriage to Pons of Pons, with the Mortemer, the Rochefoucauld, the Lusignan…
Joseph de Beauchamp buy them and makes build the current castle in 1770.
structure
In 1770 the remainders of the old castle are cut down to build the current castle. It is an imposing rectangular building with on the frontage a symmetry of two doors and three windows, on the floor five large windows rectangular, a roof in Mansart with two openings.
