Castle of Puybautier

The castle of Puybautier with Saint-Costing in Charente is a typical castle of the end of the 18th century.

History

As of the 15th century, one finds traces of the lords of Puybautier. Most famous is François Charles Gabriel Prévost Sansac de Lavauzelle, Franc-maçon, which under the revolution is member of the directory of the district of Confolens, then department.

Structure

Manor of the 16th century remains only one round tower isolated, capped from a pepper plantation covered with tiles punts.

The home, centered by a triangular pediment, is framed of two mansard-roofed houses prolonged commun runs. It is equipped with a bored stage of rectangular windows and it is covered with a mansard-roofed tiled roof, whereas the wing of the commun runs does not have a stage and that its mansard-roofed roof is covered with slates.
