Castle of O

the Castle of O is located in the commune of Mortrée, in French Department of the Flowering ash, in Basse-Normandie.

History

Built on the site of an old fortress of the 11th century, the Château of O was built in 1484, by Jean of O. It will be then embellished by Charles-Robert of O then François of O with. In 1647, the castle is bought by the family of the Montagu before becoming in 1795, property of the family Roques. Structure

The castle is built on Pilotis, on a island in the center of a pond. The enclosure, of the flanked rectangular shape of two turns, contains a court with a gallery on the floor, the arcades have sulptées columns. The castle is also composed of a house Renaissance, a Orangerie, and a Chapelle of the 19th century.

The wooded gardens preserve their dovecote and their building of farm.
