Castle of Najac
The royal fortress of Najac (CP: 12.270) was built in 1253 by Alphonse of Poitiers, brother of Saint Louis, on the basis of castle old (square tower) built in 1100 by Bertrand of Saint-Gilles, wire of Raymond IV, count de Toulouse.
At that time, the village, a borough castral, blottit with the foot of the castle which ensures the defense of the valley. The marriage of the two castles in fact a masterpiece of the Military architecture of the 13th century.

After being transformed into quarry stone at the 19th century. The demolition stopped after an accident which cost the life to the workmen. It was saved ruin by the family Cibiel.
The castle is opened with the visit.
