The castle of Montendre is with Montendre in Charente-Maritime

history

  • a castle out of wooden existed before the first stone castle builds at the beginning of the 11th century. A first lord of Montendre is attested at that time and the seigniory remained in the same family jusques towards 1366 where the ground of Montendre was confiscated by the prince of Wales.
  • it is mainly shaven in 1452 per Jean de Brosses when it takes it again with English.
