History: of Launay à Montecler
Montecler results from old the seigniory from Launay or Aunay-Péan . It concerned in the past the stronghold of the Tremblay to Saint-Christophe-of-Luat the, and in sub-fief of Entrammes, which deferred to Castle-Gontier. With the strongholds and seigniories of Roussière and Moncrintin , it was, by act of March 18th 1605, set up in châtellenie of Aunay , " with responsibility of raise of the baron of Holy-Suzanne under the duty of a sparrowhawk flying with the glove for the porter" .In January 1616, to recognize the services of Urbain de Montecler , " even with the last mouvements" , the king Louis XIII sets up the châtellenie titrates some, dignity and preeminence of marquisat , under the name of Montecler .
February 21st 1644, André de Montecler, who had just acquired the seigniory of Tremblay, obtained from the baron d' Entrammes to nûment concern nûment the king, in frank noble freehold, at a rate of its baronnie of Castle-Gontier . New acquisitions and invaluable privileges increased and decorated then Montecler. The title of marquisat concerned directly the crown; strongholds of Moncrintin, Paillerie, Saugère, Saint-Leger, Pines, Saint-Christophe , of Holy-Suzanne, " with fifteen days load of garde" ; Tremblay, of Castle-Gontier.
The castle of Montecler
If large that it is, the castle of Montecler remained unfinished. It is a vast main building ( " of a monotony désespérante" , known as too severely Paludous Leon), mutilated besides, and which never had its complement by the rise in the slim roofs and the pediments, and especially by the creation of a second house which one still sees the stones of waiting. That François-Augustin Gérault wrongfully allots to the 15th century, and which on the contrary offers the type completed like decoration that was to reproduce with more richness the principal building, really beautiful, especially with its appendix is so curiously crowned of a roof to the distorted shapes, at the top of which is perforated an air gallery. Leon Palustre wants to recognize well originality in the house of the drawbridge always in place. It was much more remarkable still before the fall of another house, of an elegant architecture , which accosted it.Inside, one notices especially big room a 14 m length, and a room with a beautiful chimney in painted and carved skirtings . This gilded room is indeed remarkable. Shouldn't one allot decoration of it to a painter originating in Castle-Gontier, Aimé Bouvier , which one sees installed with the castle in 1693?
In the vault of Midsummer's Day, extremely modest, founded by Andre de Montecler towards 1631, Émery of Ferté, bishop of Mans, managed the confirmation on July 21st 1641, and the marquis de Montecler made transfer in 1752 the service from the vault from Saugère .
The stables which attiennent there are arched and surmounted by a large part known as " room of the gardes" , memory of the time when the Montecler exerted important military commands.
June 26th 1791, the national guard of Évron comes to remove castle some weapons and an old gun, given to Urbain de Montecler by the cardinal of Richelieu. The ground is put under sequestration during the Révolution, and them wood around are the theater many combat. April 4th 1793, the national guards of Évron excavate wood " to surprise suspect people who meet " for a long time there; . January 6th 1795, the republicans encircle there a small band of Chouan S, which in spite of their small number pushes back the troop. April 5th 1795, the chouans remove the grains of the attics and charge them on horses. The royalist general Claude-Augustin de Tercier (° 1752 - † 1823) comes also in January 1796 to drive out the " pillards" which devastates the surroundings.
Morin, in its turn, with refractories of 1812, often occupies the wood of Montecler. Lastly, on May 27th 1832, they is with the castle that meet the royalist insurrectionists, ready to try a knack on Évron, when the counter-order comes.
