Castle of Monsoon
The castle of Monsoon located at Monsoon, Meurthe-et-Moselle, in Lorraine was until the 13th century the strong Château and the residence of the counts de Mousson. Placed at the top of the hill, it overhangs the valleys of the Seille and the the Moselle. It did not resist the ravages of time, the wars and especially to the cardinal Richelieu.
The 17th century was fatal to the manor house of Monsoon. Symbol of the spirit of independence and the resistance of Lorraine vis-a-vis it French royal capacity, the castle of Monsoon was an obstacle with the hegemonic intentions of Louis XIII and Richelieu. In 1633, following the example many castles of the area and fortifications of Nancy, the manor house of Monsoon was demolished by the peak and the mine. The roof is that it is destroyed by the inhabitants of the area who acted under the constraint of the French troops.
