Castle of Laval

The castle of Laval is a Château located at Laval, in the French department of the Mayenne.

Description

One finds in “the old” castle:
  • of the details of the Rebirth in an angle of the courtyard;
  • a cylindrical Keep of the 12th century, altered at the 16th century which preserved its Charpente and its primitive Hourd S;
  • a underground Vault (11th century), restored at the 19th century, divided into three naves, each one finished by a Apse with arched window, decorated with stained glasses.

History

The Petit-Château during the French revolution, was a military hospital of convalescents before being allotted to the court, 1795. In 1821, the two castles are sold at the department by Louis-Stanislas of Trémoïll E for 90.000 francs. It is at March 1st 1908, that the prisoners of the Immaculate Conception left the château.04/08/1991

“The new” castle is contiguous with the Law courts .
