Castle of Karatsu

The castle of Karatsu (唐津城 Karatsu-jō ) is a castle located in the Japanese city of Karatsu, in the Préfecture of Saga.

Hirotaka Terasawa, vassal of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, obtained the field of Karatsu in 1595. At the time of the Battle of Sekigahara, in 1600, it united with Ieyasu Tokugawa and attacked the Château of Gifu. It gained in thanks of the territories in the neighborhoods of Karatsu and ordered the construction of the castle to protect these new grounds. Construction lasted 6 years, of 1602 with 1608. One used materials resulting from the castle of Nagoya de Hideyoshi Toyotomi which was dismantled.
