Castle of Ingrandes
the Castle of Ingrandes is in the borough of Ingrandes (Indre) to 7 km in the west of the Blanc.
History
Defended by the escarpée valley of Anglin in the south, and by deep ditches (disappeared) in north, the feudal castle was built at the 11th century. It was built with the site of a Roman castrum, ordering the Roman way of Bourges to Poitiers and which one finds trace on the Table of Peutinger. Of Guesclin, energy of Holy-Severe in Poitiers followed the edges of the Anglin, taking with haste the fortresses which bordered it with the invaders. The country was English at that time, belonging to the stronghold of Aliénor of Aquitaine.The castle was then rebuilt at the 14th century and 15th century. The vestiges remain us today. The frame of the tower with Hourd S.A. gone back to 1465. Henri IV, at the time of its wars against the League, conquered the castle and gave it to the lord of the White, Antoine d' Aloigny, in thanks of its assistance.

The circumstances of the destruction of the main building are badly known: this one could go back to the end of the 18th century. The castle of Ingrandes remained the property of the descendants Dupin, the baron of Villeneuve until the beginning of this century. In 1923, it then became the property of the Combescure family which exploited it as a farm until in the years 1970.
Alain and Jacqueline Drouart acquire of the ruins of the feudal castle of Ingrandes in 1982. A request file of protection is deposited. The castle is registered with the additional inventory of the Historic buildings by order of the prefect on October 1st, 1987. To date, the home of the 15th century is completely restored, the keep is saved and work continues.
Visits
The castle is opened with the public, it accommodates many visitors at the time of various demonstrations. Rooms of hosts were arranged to lodge the visitors at the time of their stay in the area. Five rooms of hosts of class (4 ears Lodgings of France) are proposed in the vestiges of the castle-extremely. One finds there a swimming pool private, spaces picnic, a river, a boat, bicycles.
Geographical location
Ingrandes is on the road of the Futuroscope, vast park dedicated to the image (to 40 km). Ingrandes is also one of the doors of the Regional natural park of Brenne, astonishing landscape of ponds, natural reserve of water birds. The area is rich in historic buildings, castles and Romance churches (Saint-Savin, basilica classified with the World heritage of UNESCO, is to 7 km; the Benedictine abbey Notre-Dame de Fontgombault, is to 12 km).Ingrandes shelters the museum Henri de Monfreid and a house of the bee-keeping.
