Castle of Cords
The Château of Cords is located at 900m altitude, on the commune of Orcival, in the Département of the Puy-de-Dôme in Auvergne (France).
It dates from the 15th century, but was altered with and 18th century, it is classified monument historique. The exterior facade on the side of Sioulet is decorated of Machicoulis, its gardens (roseries and hedges) were drawn by Ours in 1695. Inside one can admire a marble retable of Carrare dating from the 16th century and lying of Yves II of Allègre (companion of Bayard). The living room is decorated with gypseries dating from the 18th siècle. It is here that Paul Le Bourget locates the action of its novel the middle-aged lust .
