Castle of Champvigy

The Château of Champvigy is located on the commune of Saint-Bonnet-of-Old woman-Vine in Saône-et-Loire, on a nipple dominating an undulating area.

Description

Of an enclosure undoubtedly rectangular, there remain only two circular towers; the first, which is also most important, is flanked of a tower of staircase; second is flanked of a turret circulaire.
A landscaped garden gives to the unit a framework romantique.

The castle is a Private property and does not visit itself.

History

  • of the end of the 13th century at the end of the 14th century: property of the Damas de Champvigy
  • 1399: the strong house falls to Philibert de Vaux , wire of Jeanne Damas and of Guiot de Vaux , which had accompanied the admiral Jean by Vienna in Scotland
  • fine 15th century: property of Antoine and German Léonard
  • 17th century: property of the Mathieu d' Essertines
  • 1721: property of Georges-Nickel silver of Champier
  • between 1742 and 1945: belongs to the family Quarré which carried " Chequered of money and azure; with the chief of gold charged with a sand lion, armed, lampassé and crowned gueules" .
the castle is mainly destroyed in 1944.
