Castle of Champs-sur-Marne
The Château of Champs-sur-Marne is a castle of the 18th century located in full heart of the town of Champs-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne).
History
Built at the end of the reign of Louis XIV, the Castle of Champs-sur-Marne has a typical architecture of 18th century.Its construction by Pierre Bullet was ordered by Charles Renouard of Touane in 1699 then stopped after the bankruptcy of this last. It is the son of Pierre Bullet, Jean-Baptiste Bullet de Chamblain which takes again construction thanks to the sums of money of Paul Poisson de Bourvallais. Construction finishes in 1707.
The Marquise of Pompadour there lives 1757 with 1758 and spends much of money for its decoration, in particular of decorative paintings of the animalist painter Christophe Huet.
Many owners follow one another after that, so that it finishes between the hands of the count Louis Cahen of Antwerp in 1895, which entirely restores the castle. His/her son Charles Cahen of Antwerp makes gift of the Castle to the State in 1935.
Since the September 20th 2006 and the collapse of a ceiling, the castle of repairs and is on standby closed with the public until new order. The park can nevertheless be visited.
Gardens
The gardens are started with Poisson de Bourvallais, who makes carry out a garden with the Frenchwoman with floors of embroideries. Their design would be due to Claude Desgots (nephew of Ours).
Later, at the time of the dukes of Vallière, Garnier of Isle modifies part of the garden.
Lastly, Achille Duchêne redraws the floors of them.
