  • 1644 ..................... Louis XIV sets up the seigniory in county in reward of the services of Nicolas Button , lord of Chamilly, baron de Montaigu, grandson of the precedents (it had defended Stenay during forty-five days and had become brigadier)
  • 1662 ..................... with died of the precedent, his/her son Hérard Bouton succeeds to him (it follows the duke of Enghien in Spain where he fights against the France, is amnestied by Louis XIV after the Traité of the Pyrenees and becomes brigadier and governor of the castle of Dijon; his/her brother, Christmas Button, are the author of the Lettres to a Portuguese nun )
  • 1672 ..................... Hérard Bouton dies during the countryside of Holland; its nephew, Louis-François Button , him also brigadier, succeeds
  • to him 1776 ..................... by the grand-daughter of the precedent, Suzanne Martel , the stronghold falls to Armand Joseph de Béthune, duke of Chârost
  • 1794 ..................... the son of the precedents, last lord of Chamilly , dies on the scaffold
