Castle of Chétardie
The castle of Chétardie is located at Exideuil in Charente.
History
- the name of Chétardie come from the Chétard family, whose last of the line marries in 1500 Jean Trotti what gives the line of Chétardie. Jacques-Joachim Trotti of Chétardie (1750-1759), officer, diplomat and writer, is their downward the most known.
Structure
- Of the castle of the 11th century it remains two capped towers of pepper plantations.
- the rectangular home was rebuilt at the 17th century.
- At the 18th century it was altered with in particular addition of dry ditches.
- On the other frontage of the home, a part in Russian rotunda of inspiration was added by Jacques-Joachim Trotti of Chétardie, which had been ambassador plenipotentiary of Louis XV in this country.
