Castle of Bourmont

The castle of Bourmont (Freigné, Maine-et-Loire) is the birthplace of the marshal of Bourmont and belongs to its descent.

Vestiges of an important defensive military apparatus of the the Middle Ages. The construction of the buildings spreads out 16th century (northern turn) at the end of the 19th century. In 1892, construction of a castle in the neo-gothic style by Bibard and Lediberder. The two commun runs and the orangery were built at the beginning of the 18th century (1702) in the Style Louis XIV.

At the time of the Chouannerie, in 1795, the Viscount of Scépaux establishes its general headquarter there.

It is registered (partially) with the inheritance of the historic buildings, by decree of the January 29th 1993
