Castle of Biron
Located on the commune of Biron in the valley of the Lède department of the the Dordogne in the black Périgord Aquitanian area
the castle of Biron was the Château of the family of Gontaut-Biron since the 12th century; taken by the Albigensian in 1211, Simon IV of Montfort in 1212, English at the 14th century and 15th century. Set up in duchy-peerage in 1598.
Each century, between the 12th century and the 18th century, left its print, evoking the vicissitudes of this monumental building:
- Keep of the 12th century
- Vault on double floor
- apartments of the Rebirth
- impressive Kitchen S arched
- room of the States…
From this incredible juxtaposition of buildings results an exceptional architectural unit, of a very particular attraction.
In 1978, the department acquires the castle in seen to restore it.
