Castle of Beauvais
The Castle of Beauvais , is a vast square building, flanked of two round towers with Mâchicoulis, which dominates the narrow small valley which separates it from the borough from Lussas-and-Nontronneau (the Dordogne).
Built on the site of a known noble residence since 1450 according to an act of February 22nd, 1450, per which noble Thibaud de Conan and his wife Agnes de Maumont, assencent in Martial Thomas the noble den of Beauvais. Built by the family of Faure of Roderie, barons de Saint Martial de Valette between 1533 and the end of XVIe century, it is an good example of architecture archaïsante of this area of the Périgord. A beautiful dovecote and a very beautiful covered well supplement the unit.
