Castle of Beaumaris

The castle of Beaumaris , located at Beaumaris, on l´île d´ Anglesey, was built at the time of conquest the campaign of the Wales of North by Edouard Ier of England. Begun in 1295, it was built by James de Saint George. Beaumaris is currently regarded as l´un of the castles most perfect architecturalement speaking and was indexed in the Liste of the world heritage.

Description

Construction Beaumaris (of French l ancian beautiful mareys ) is the last of the castles built by Edouard Ier in Wales of North. It n´ completely finished forever, fault d´argent and of materials, the king having turned his attention towards l´ Scotland before the end of its construction.

At the time of his construction, the king ordered the displacement of all the inhabitants of the village close to Llanfaes with Newborough, of l´autre side of l´île. Royal L´architecte put all its experiment at the service of this last castle, proposing a concentric plan where the interior Muraille S are completely surrounded d´un wall d´enceinte. The castle has a direct connection with the sea, thus allowing its supply and is surrounded by filled up ditches d´eau.

The complexity of defenses is such eager qu´un attacking to d´envahir the castle must pass by 14 successive obstacles and four lines of fortifications before d´en to reach the heart.

Aujourd´hui

The castle is managed by the Cadw which l´a opened with the public.
