The castle of Bagnolet was built in 1810 on the edges of the Charente to Cognac.
History
The name come from a natural fountain and would indicate the existence of baths in antiquity.In the " large parc" of Cognac which borders the Charente on its Right Bank and was royal property until the revolution, the Augier family built Bagnolet in 1810. It is then a square central house, flanked of two smaller houses, facing a landscaped garden the which goes down soft inclined to the river.
Auguste Hennessy buys it in 1841; he adds the two wings and the wintergarden.
Structure
In a landscaped garden of 7 ha which can be visited each year for the weekend “Go gardens”, this house of hosts of the Hennessy establishments presents his large white frontage of quasi-colonial style, perfectly integrated in the landscape.
