Castle Drive out-Spleen

The castle Drive out-Spleen , is a wine field of 80 ha in the Médoc, located at Moulis-in-Medoc in the Gironde. It is a AOC Moulis-in-Medoc which belongs to the believed middle-class exceptional.

History of the field

The soil

The vineyard, of a surface of 80 hectares, is located at the culminating point of the croups of Large-Poujeaux. The ground is made up to low register garonnaises 80% on calcareous substrate with asteries. The 20% remainder being argilo-limestones.

Encépagement consists of 73% of Cabernet-sauvignon, 20% of Merlot and 7% of Petit verdot on Porte-greffe S 101-14, 3309,41B or Riparia Gloire. The Middle Age of the vineyard is 30 years.

The method of culture is traditional (chaussage, baring) and the grape harvest is manual.

Wine making and breeding

The wine making is carried out in tanks in stainless thermobabbited or resin cement covered epoxy. The Macération lasts approximately a month. The breeding, traditional, is carried out from 12 to 14 month out of barrels of oak renewed to 40% every year. Joining is carried out with the egg whites.

Drive out-spleen also produces a second wine: the Heritage of Drive out-Spleen .
