Castelo de Paiva

Castelo de Paiva is a municipality (in Portuguese: concelho or município ) of the Portugal, located in the District of Aveiro and the Northern area.

The municipality does not draw its name from any the parishes which compose it.

The March 4th 2001 a coach and two cars were projected in the vacuum whereas the vehicles crossed the metallic bridge on the river known Douro under the name of " Big shot Hintze Ribeiro" , between Castelo and Between-bone-Rios. Built in 1886, this bridge had been announced like dangerous and one of its pillars would have yielded under the pressure of water. At least 53 people would have lost the life in this accident.
