Castelnau-with Auzan is a common French, located in the department of the Gers and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Its inhabitants is called Auzanais.

Geography

The picturesque village is located on the Gélise at “crossroads”, 26 km in the West of Condom in Gers near Lot-et-Garonne and of the Landes.

It is very easy to reach the village, that it is in Voiture, in Train (the closest stations are Mont of Marsan 55 km, Agen 60 km, Auch 70 km) or in Avion, with three airports located not far: Toulouse (140 km), Bordeaux (140 km) and Pau. A tempting geographical location: on a side, the Atlantic coast and other, the field Ski whitebait of the south of France where it will take you only two hours to go there by car.

Castelnau d' Auzan is surrounded by a true country of Vignoble S, with undulated hills, and that and there, a pretty small village. A splendid decoration with a super environment for Excursion S with foot, in Bicycle or for part of Golf on a superb ground located â a few minutes.

Sometimes because of its sloping landscape, Gers is called the Toscane of France. The summers are long and hot there whereas on the contrary, the winters are short and soft there. Since centuries this climate exerts a true attraction force. The area shelters of many castles, walled medieval small towns, crowned sites and villages built around castles.

History

  • the name of Castelnau d' Auzan means " New castle in the Country of Eauzan". In spite of its Castle disappeared today, you will be able to discover some vestiges of this time while crossing the village: Place Mairie of which you will be able to admire the angles and its older street " the street of Canon". This little place of Castelnau is the only one to have crossed the invasion S, the Guerre S and other conflicts which prevail in the area towards the XVe century.

  • Since always Castelnau d' Auzan and Gers enjoys a great reputation in the field of hospitality and of user-friendliness, people there are accessible and like the festivals. Their calling card is: good glass of Coast of Gascogne or Floc to the hand, much of attention one for the other, Armagnac with moderation, of the Cassoulet, conserve of duck and the Foie gras.

  • Holy Church Marie-madeleine:

    • Located at the center of Castelnau, the neogothic church of the 19th century, was formerly located at the center. Today, it is one of only the vestiges with the place with angles which resisted time. Its Clocher was recently restored. It is enlightened on the right of a stained glass representing the Synagog (19th century) of the furnace bridge in opposition, on the left, with the Vitrail representing the Church.
  • Church Saint Jean de Béziey:

    • rural Church of the XIe century located at orée of a wood in edge of a River, the Gélise, in the area of the Armagnac in Castelnau d' Auzan in Gers. It was also famous for its miraculous source for the Yeux.
  • Church Saint Martin d' Arech:

    • of the XV° century, it is drawn up in the middle of the plate, its site is classified.
  • Church of Rieupeyroux:

    • is another testimony of the old vitality of the district of Houeillères.
  • Notre-Dame de Pibèque:

    • Center of regional Pilgrimage. The current church, of style XVe finishing century, out of stone of Angouleme holds of the architectural jewel, but a jewel without ostentation, of a great purity of lines, fully granted to its pastoral framework. The unit due to the Architect Dubarry de Lasalle and to the good care of a pious lady: Juliette Gairal goes back to 1898 and replaced modest the Chapelle which was a little low, towards the famous source.
